Our algorithms optimize your charging for when costs are lowest and grid strain is down, provided there’s enough time to get to your target battery level by the daily departure time you set
Under some circumstances, to ensure that we meet your mobility needs, your EV may charge during on-peak periods. Reasons for this include:
- Your EV’s daily departure time and target battery level are such that there was insufficient time to charge exclusively during off-peak hours.
- Your EV has less than 20% state of charge (SOC) and you have Low Battery Protection enabled
- You are a new user and we have yet to detect enough information about your vehicle to effectively manage your charging - we need to see a charging session at your home that increases your battery level by at least 15 percent
If you would prefer to exclusively charge your vehicle during off-peak times, you can enable the Peak Avoidance feature in the WeaveGrid dashboard. To learn more about this feature, check out: What is Peak Avoidance?
