How does Automatic Smart Charging work with my Charger?

If applicable, once your charger is connected during the WeaveGrid registration process and you've successfully enrolled in SRP EV Smart Charge™, your charging will be optimally scheduled each time you plug in at home based on your settings. Visit your WeaveGrid dashboard to customize your Automatic Smart Charging settings. You can set your charging finish time for each day of the week. 

WeaveGrid considers several factors when determining your smart charging times, including the lowest-cost periods you can charge in order to meet your upcoming driving needs and the overall electric grid conditions. 

To create your charging plan WeaveGrid does the following:

• Estimates your daily mileage needs based on your last 6 charges and charge you to that amount by your Departure Time every day. 
• Sends you SMS messages when you plug in with the estimated added mileage and charging finish time. If you need more or less charge, you can text a reply of “more” or “less” to modify the mileage target. You can also always cancel an upcoming charging schedule if needed.
• Charges immediately if there’s not enough time to reach your needed mileage.

Based on your inputs, WeaveGrid algorithms prioritize meeting the following goals in order:

1. Get your car charged up by the time you need it
2. Charge at the cheapest times
3. Charge when energy generation is cheapest or electric grid stress is lowest

WeaveGrid will start managing charge after the first plug session as long as it’s ~30min or longer.
