How does Automatic Smart Charging work with my home charging station?

If you are enrolled in a program with automatic smart charging with your home charging station, your charging will be optimally scheduled each time you plug in at home based on your settings. 

You can visit your WeaveGrid dashboard to customize your Smart Charge Management settings. You can set your charging finish time for each day of the week.

WeaveGrid considers several factors when determining your smart charging times, including the lowest-cost periods you can charge to meet your upcoming driving needs and the overall electric grid conditions.

To create your charging plan, WeaveGrid does the following:

• Estimates your daily mileage needs based on your last few charges and charges you to that amount by your departure time every day.
• Sends you an SMS message when you plug in, with the charging start time and when your vehicle will be ready. If you ever need to cancel or change your charging schedule, check out: Can I cancel or change a Smart Charging Schedule if needed?
• Charges immediately if there’s not enough time to reach your needed mileage.

Based on your inputs, WeaveGrid algorithms prioritize meeting the following goals in order:

1. Get your car charged to your target battery level by the time you need it, respecting any advanced features you’ve enabled
2. Charge at the lowest-cost times
3. Charge when energy generation is cheapest or when the electric grid stress is lowest

Note for ChargePoint users: When you plug in, you'll see a "Utility Event" created and toggled on by WeaveGrid in your ChargePoint app. This is normal and by design - it prevents immediate charging so WeaveGrid can create your optimized schedule. Please do not toggle the event off, as this will interfere with WeaveGrid's ability to manage your charging. WeaveGrid will automatically update your schedule once it's been created.
